Youth Program (for out-of-school youth)

Also known as the Title 1 Youth Program

The Youth Program empowers young people to take control of their futures through education and training opportunities. This program helps individuals remove the challenges that keep them from completing school or getting a job. The Youth program will help you sharpen your current skills, learn new ones, get meaningful work experience, and more. Every youth in Tennessee will have access to and knowledge of the tools needed to achieve financial stability. Every youth in every county is career-bound!

Step 1

Review Eligibility

If you are not currently attending school (including drop-outs), you must be:

  • 16 - 24 years old
  • Not attending school
  • Struggling to secure a job or education due to personal challenges (i.e., children at home, no reliable transportation, history with the criminal justice system, etc.)

You must also consider yourself as dealing with one or more of the following challenges:

  • Struggling to secure a job or education due to personal challenges (i.e., children at home, no reliable transportation, etc.)
  • Non-native English speaker
  • Involved with the criminal justice system (at any point)
  • Homeless
  • In the foster care system or aged out
  • Pregnant or parenting
  • Individual with disability
  • Should be in school, but haven’t attended in the most recent school year
  • Need help completing education or getting a job
